Please review the AAP Publications Migration Checklist above for instructions on pre-launch and post-launch steps to ensure continuity.
Is there anything I need to do to ensure continuity? How will knowledge bases and discovery services be affected?
All URLs will be redirected. However, to ensure continuity and the best possible user experience, libraries are encouraged to make updates to URLs used in library catalogues, discovery tools, and hyperlinks. We are working with our discovery services partners to ensure that they are also updating their links, but libraries are responsible for some links, including their own locally held knowledge bases. Redirects may not work with these services, and so we urge you to update them.
Linking syntax and KBART files will be available at launch.
Will there be any interruption of service?
No, there should not be any interruption of service. However, we recommend that you verify that your access and links are working.
Does my discovery service vendor already know about the domain change?
To date, we are in touch with many discovery service organizations, including EBSCO Discovery, Scopus, CNKI, and OCLC. If there are specific services you have questions about, please contact us.
Will there be any impact on usage reports?
For the new platform (hosted by Silverchair), COUNTER usage data will be captured by Silverchair and will be available through its institutional admin tool. We encourage users to download any historical usage statistics that they require by November 8, 2021. Please review the AAP Publications Migration Checklist on this page for steps on gathering historical usage statistics.
I am an account administrator for an institution. What things can I manage via the Account Administrator area?
You will be able to pull usage reports, manage access options, update IP addresses via IP Registry, and upload your institutional logo.
Will I need to make changes to my proxy settings?
Institutional administrators will be able to set up proxy settings under the administrator dashboard.
Prior to launch, AAP will provide a list of Federations that will be supported. Contact us through our inquiry form if your federation is not listed, so that we can pursue enabling it.
Will I need to make any changes to the Shibboleth/OpenAthens set up?
The AAP is making every effort to migrate customers' OpenAthens access to the new platform, which treats OpenAthens as a Shibboleth Federation. Please verify access after launch and feel free to contact us.
Is the new AAP Publications OCLC EZproxy Stanza Live?
OCLC is in the process of posting our updated stanzas, which you can find here.
Is Federated access through SAML authentication available?
Federated access to AAP Publications is supported through the Federation selector option on the Institutional login area of the site. You may also generate a custom Redirector URL for your institution.
How do I set up WAYFless URLs?
WayFless access to AAP Publications is supported through an OpenAthens Redirector link. You may verify if you are registered with OpenAthens Federation here. Steps on generating an OpenAthens Redirector link can be found here.
I incorporate HTML integration of Pediatric Patient Education (PPE) on my practice or institution Web site*. Does anything need to change?
- If you use the Handout Links provided by AAP, you will need to update the code. (Click here to download.) The HTML displays categories and the top 3 handouts for each one. Current list contains multiple categories, but users may omit categories and/or select different handouts by editing the HTML.
- If you use the Search Box provided by AAP, you will need to update the code to the new HTML (Click here to download. ) Using the search box and clicking the “Go” button takes the user to the PPE search results page.
* This feature is available to practices and institutions that subscribe to Pediatric Care Online or Pediatric Patient Education. Referring URL authentication with the site where links are posted is required for users to access full content. For the integration option, referring URL or IP authentication may be appropriate, depending on the use.
