PEPP Course Coordinators share the benefits of PEPP training, describe how PEPP compares to other pediatric training programs, and provide their stories of success.

    Rick Wiegert, PEPP Course Coordinator at Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center, discusses the organization’s experience and achievements with PEPP training. The organization, which encompasses the Special Warfare Medical Group (Army) and the Naval Special Operations Medical Institute, has incorporated PEPP into its curriculum for many years.

    Megan Petrucelli, EMS Program Coordinator at Connecticut EMSC State Partnership Program, calls attention to how PEPP provides excellent training around the psychosocial aspect of pediatric health for both providers and families. In this interview, Megan also discusses how providers commented on feeling better prepared in responding to sensitive calls, such as pediatric drownings after completing their PEPP training which incorporated a live, hands-on simulation of an infant drowning.

    Mary Otting, EMS Coordinator at Lurie Children's Hospital, in Chicago, Illinois, recalls how EMS providers experienced challenges locating pediatric emergency courses in her area. She describes the importance of providing prehospital providers with training, like PEPP, that is specific to prehospital settings. Otting also describes the privilege of having PEPP Editor, Dr. Susan Fuchs, as the EMS medical director at her institution, which made it apparent that PEPP training was the best course to offer to their providers.
