Federal Government

Read past hearings, access national roundtable discussions, and keep up to date on legislation and briefings.

US Indian Health Service (IHS)
The IHS, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, is responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The IHS provides a comprehensive health service delivery system for approximately 1.9 million American Indians and Alaska Natives who belong to 574 federally recognized tribes in 37 states.

US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Native American Programs
HUD's Office of Native American Programs (ONAP) administers housing and community development programs that benefit American Indian and Alaska Native tribal governments, tribal members, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, Native Hawaiians, and other Native American organizations.

Other Organizations

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)
The ACOG Committee on American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Women’s Health provides professional consultation, outside quality assessment, and peer review support to the Indian Health Service and other providers of obstetric and gynecologic health care to AI/AN populations.

Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP)
The AAIP is an educational, scientific, and charitable non-profit organization offering educational programs, services and activities to pursue careers in the health professions or biomedical research as well as fostering forums where modern medicine combines with traditional healing to enhance health care delivery to American Indian/Alaska Native communities.

Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS)
The Canadian Paediatric Society is one of more than 11 national organizations involved in a long-term initiative to reduce the health inequities facing First Nations, Inuit and Métis children and youth in Canada. CPS also co-sponsors the International Meeting on Indigenous Child Health.

Center for Native American Youth
The Center for Native American Youth is dedicated to improving the health, safety, and overall well-being of Native American youth through communication, policy development and advocacy.

National Indian Education Association
The National Indian Education Association (NIEA) advances comprehensive educational opportunities for all Native students through advocacy, capacity building, and education.

National Congress of American Indians
NCAI is the oldest, largest and most representative American Indian/Alaska Native organization serving the broad interests of Tribal governments and communities.

National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA)
The NICWA provides training, policy and development services to help American Indian children to grow up safe, healthy and spiritually strong.

National Indian Health Board
The National Indian Health Board represents Tribal governments, both those that operate their own health care delivery systems and those receiving health care directly from the Indian Health Service.
