The Center of Excellence on Social Media and Youth Mental Health is accepting speaking requests on the topic of social media and youth mental health for in-person and virtual events. If you are a medical group, government agency, conference, school, parents' group, community group or other group that supports youth, we encourage you to submit a request for an expert speaker.

The Center will select a speaker from our group of Center of Excellence Ambassadors for your presentation. Ambassadors are subject matter experts, knowledgeable about social media and mental health and trained to speak about the Center and its current research and resources. Center of Excellence Ambassadors have spoken at community town halls, parent groups, schools, medical and professional conferences, webinars, and more. Ambassadors speak on a variety of topics, including digital literacy, problematic internet use habits, the public health framework, and more niche areas depending on an organization’s needs.

To request a speaker, please complete the form below. Center staff will then review your request and connect your organization with an Ambassador who best fits your needs.

Youth play a critical role in advancing our understanding about how to promote healthy media use. If you are looking to infuse youth voice into your event, members of the Center of Excellence’s Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) are also available for speaker requests. These teens are well-prepared and able to discuss a number of topics. They offer a unique perspective on how digital media has influenced their own lives, and how the Center of Excellence on Social Media and Youth Mental Health is changing the way we think - and talk - about youth mental health and media use.

Interested in being an Ambassador?

Are you a pediatrician, mental health professional, educator, or other subject matter expert interested in the intersection between digital media and youth mental health? Do you have experience providing presentations or other trainings? Apply to join our Ambassador Program! Ambassadors represent the Center of Excellence at different speaking opportunities, virtual and in-person. If you think you would be a good fit, please email socialmedia@aap.org and include a resume/CV, prior presentation or mock presentation slides on children and media use, as well as a short email explaining your interest in the topic of children and media use and interest in serving as an Ambassador for the Center.
