VSCO is a photo and video editor platform in which users can edit and share their content to the app’s feed and/or other social media sites like Facebook, Snapchat, and WhatsApp as well as email and text messaging. The app includes features like photo filters, film effects, and “VSCO Spaces,” which are photography interest communities on the app/site.
VSCO is primarily a creative tool and outlet for users. Follower and “like” counts remain private. Youth using the app can also share others’ content to their “,” direct message other users, or participate in a Space and its “Discussions.” VSCO can be either paid or free. When downloading the app, new users will be asked to signup for a paid account but have the ability to exit out or skip and will then have access to the free version.
Common Sense Media’s Recommended Age for Using VSCO: 14+
VSCO contains ads for all users with free accounts. Ads show up on the Feed, Discover, and Profile pages. Ads either include VSCO’s new features or third-party products. Users can disable targeted cookies in “Your Privacy Choices.” This means that the user will continue to see ads, but they won’t be personalized.
