The Made for Kids section on the App Store is carefully curated to be a great space for children. Every app is reviewed to make sure it does what it says it does. In Content Restrictions, parents can also tap an age range and, just like that, their kids can buy or download only apps appropriate for them — including curated recommendations. When parents enable Ask to Buy, they can approve or decline their kids' app purchases and downloads right from their device. Learn more about Ask to Buy.

The Kids Category on the App Store is a great way for people to easily find apps specifically designed for children ages 11 and under on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. App developers place their app in 1 of 3 bands based on its primary audience. Groupings include 5 and under, 6 to 8, or 9 to 11. In addition, these apps have to meet higher standards that protect children’s data and offer added safeguards for purchases and permissions (e.g., for Camera, Location, etc).
When parents visit the Kids category, they expect the apps they find will provide only age-appropriate content and protect their children’s data, as well as require a parental gate in order to link out of the app, request permissions, or present purchasing opportunities. Apps in this category should not transmit personally identifiable information or device information to third parties, even in sections of the app that are meant for parents or other adults. In addition, advertisements must be human-reviewed for age appropriateness in order to be displayed.
Read the App Store Review Guidelines for details and carefully review relevant laws and regulations around child privacy.
Expanded guidance in Siri, Spotlight, and Safari Search provides additional resources to help children and parents stay safe online and get help with unsafe situations. For example, users who ask how they can report child exploitation will be pointed to resources for where and how to file a report. Learn more about the expanded Guidance.
Safety Check is an iOS Setting that helps the user disconnect their iPhone from people, apps, and devices they no longer want to be connected to. Check out this resource to see specifically what information will stop being shared during Safety Check.
