Family Reunification Toolkit

Children and their parents are not always together when a disaster occurs. Planning for effective family reunification is a critical component of disaster preparedness planning. The AAP has collaborated with Massachusetts General Hospital’s Center for Disaster Medicine to develop a reunification toolkit, known as “Family Reunification Following Disasters: A Planning Tool for Health Care Facilities.” This important tool provides health care facilities critical information to consider as they review and update disaster preparedness plans to ensure that hospital staff are ready to support children and families in the reunification process following a disaster.
