Prevention of child abuse and neglect centers around supporting families maintain safe, stable and nurturing relationships with their children. Fostering the development of these safe, stable and nurturing relationships protects and nurtures children’s development, allowing them to build and increase resilience to factors that may contribute to abuse and neglect. Protective factors, such as access to medical and mental health services, emotional support, positive community relationships and others can serve to prevent abuse and neglect as well.
