Lewis First, MD, MS, FAAP, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Vermont (UVM) Larner College of Medicine, Chief of Pediatrics at the UVM Children’s Hospital, and editor-in-chief of the AAP’s peer-reviewed journal Pediatrics. Dr. First also educates the public weekly as a broadcaster and columnist with his “First with Kids” segments that appear on radio, television, and in local newspapers.
Markus Buchfellner, MD

Markus Buchfellner, MD, is a pediatric infectious diseases fellow at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Children's of Alabama. He completed medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. One of his primary research interests in fellowship thus far relates to CMV infection and disease in stem cell transplant patients, but he also enjoys collaborating with his health department in studying local outbreak surveillance of adenovirus and monkeypox.
