The mission of the AAP Council on Early Childhood (COEC), to relentlessly lift up infants, young children and their families in programs, practice and policy.

The COEC members participate in research, education, policy development, advocacy, practice transformation and more. The COEC works to facilitate and strengthen connections between child professional disciplines and agencies that support early childhood, and to facilitate pediatrician collaboration in community, state, and national efforts. The members engage with the many systems that serve our youngest children, including early care and education, home visiting, early intervention, parent support, and beyond.

The COEC has identified the presence of Early Childhood Chapter Champions (ECCCs) in state AAP chapters as a key opportunity to cultivate and connect leadership on early childhood issues across clinical, community, and policy settings.
