AAP is committed to inclusion, equity, and respectful treatment of all meeting participants and seeks to provide a safe and professional atmosphere in which attendees may learn, network, and participate in a welcoming environment of mutual respect. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, AAP staff, service providers, and all others are expected to abide by this Code of Conduct. This applies to all AAP meetings and events, including those sponsored by organizations other than AAP but held in conjunction with AAP events, on virtual, in-person, public or private platforms. Conduct that is prohibited includes:

  • Harassment or intimidation of any kind including those based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, religion, language, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, physical appearance, disability, veteran/military status, marital/partner status, parental status or other group status.
  • Sexual harassment or intimidation, including unwelcome sexual attention, stalking (physical or virtual), or unsolicited physical contact.
  • Physical violence, yelling or other threatening behavior.
  • Disruption of presentations during sessions, in the exhibit hall, or at other events.
  • The possession or use of any weapons, including firearms, knives, or other dangerous items, is strictly prohibited at all meeting venues and during any event-related activities.
  • Use or possession of illegal drugs and/or severe intoxication.
  • Photography, video recording, and/or screenshots without written permission from the AAP and appropriate notification to participants.

Participants asked by anyone to stop engaging in hostile or harassing behaviors are expected to comply immediately. AAP reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, respond to any incident of unacceptable behavior, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund prohibiting attendance at any future meeting.

If you believe you are the victim of a crime, call 911 or the local authorities immediately. If you experience or witness a violation, you may report it to the AAP Chief Executive Officer or AAP President. If an immediate action is needed, you can contact the AAP Staff so that appropriate action may be taken.
