The Section is charged with authoring clinical reports, policy statements, and technical reports to provide guidance to pediatricians and other health care providers on the prevention, intervention, and treatment of adolescent nicotine and tobacco use, and the harmful effects of secondhand and thirdhand tobacco and marijuana smoke/aerosol.
AAP Tobacco Policy Statements & Technical Reports
The AAP Section on Nicotine and Tobacco Prevention and Treatment has authored several clinical reports, policy statements, and technical reports on nicotine and tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure. The statements cover hot topics in tobacco control and detail ways to protect children from tobacco use, nicotine dependence, e-cigarette use and tobacco smoke through public policy and clinical practice change avenues.
