The Section on Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, founded in 1977, is dedicated to improving the care of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults by providing an educational forum for the discussion of problems and treatments related to otolaryngology-head and neck surgery in children.

The Section is governed by an Executive Committee consisting of seven Section members including a Section chairperson and chair-elect. The Section Executive Committee meets at the National Conference and Exhibition, which is held in the fall, and at American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology meeting in the spring. The Section has a business meeting and an educational program at the National Conference and Exhibition as well and proposes educational topics for seminars and plenary sessions that would be of interest to the general pediatrician.

In addition, the Section acts as an expert resource to the AAP by providing assistance to policy-creating bodies. Section members review policy statements, brochures, and other AAP publications related to otolaryngologic problems in children.
