Specialty Fellows

MDs and DOs certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and 50% of practice must be devoted to the care of children.

Applicants must submit:

• Documentation that 50% of practice is devoted to the care of children. 
• Submit ONE of the following two:
  • A six-month’s previous operative and/or three months previous patient care lists demonstrating that their major commitment is and will be to the advancement of medical care of children AND proof of board certification;
    OR
  • Proof of membership in the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).
• One sponsor letter of support from a member of the Section on Orthopaedics.

Fellows, Corresponding Fellows, Honorary Fellows and Senior Members who are members in good standing of the Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness.

Candidate Members who have completed a Fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics OR whose practice is at least 50% pediatric orthopaedics, while awaiting the certification examination of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS).

Fellowship Trainees who are currently completing a Fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics.

Resident Members and Medical Students who are interested in pediatric orthopaedics and want to support the objectives of the Section.

Section Affiliate membership

1. Licensed physicians who are not otherwise eligible for membership in the AAP who provide care for children with musculoskeletal problems.

Applicants must submit:

• A listing of all patients seen during the past three months OR a summary of pertinent research conducted within the past year.
• A current curriculum vitae.
• Two letters of support from section members who are able to comment on the applicant’s clinical and/or research interest in the field of Pediatric Orthopaedics.

2. Doctorate research scientists who devote at least 50% of their time to the study of the Pediatric Orthopaedics (or a related field).

Applicants must submit:

• A log of research projects conducted during the past two years.
• A current curriculum vitae that includes a list of all publications, presentations and past research projects.
• Two letters of support from section members who are able to comment on the applicant’s research interest in the field of Pediatric Orthopaedics.
