Welcome to the AAP Section on Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (SOGHN) website.  The Section is the home for over pediatric gastroenterologists, primary care physicians (PCPs) with an interest in gastroenterology, and fellows in training.  We are currently over 700 members strong!

Our goal is to strengthen the partnerships between PCPs and pediatric gastroenterologists by developing and promoting evidence-based clinical approaches, developing and delivering educational content and using the resources of the AAP for effective advocacy. In all that we do, diversity, equity and inclusion are core principles of the SOGHN.

The SOGHN has 10 active committees to help accomplish our goal: Policy Statements & Guidelines Committee (Sonny Harpavat, MD, PhD. FAAP); Button Battery & Foreign Body Committee (Elizabeth Sinclair, MD, FAAP); Communications/Website Committee (Christine Waasdorp Hurtado, MD, FAAP); Patient & Family Education Committee (Christine Waasdorp Hurtado, MD, FAAP); Advocacy / Annual Leadership Forum Resolutions & Proposals Committee (Jeannie Huang, MD, MPH, FAAP); Chapter Speakers Program Committee (Mitch Cohen, MD, FAAP, & Angela Sandell, MD, FAAP); Clinical Education Programming Committee (Carlo DiLorenzo, MD, FAAP); Trainees & Early Career Gastroenterologists Committee (Daniel Mallon, MD, FAAP); Nominations Committee (Mitch Cohen, MD, FAAP; Only SOGHN Executive Committee members can participate); and the Awards Committee (Conrad Cole, MD, MPHH, MSc, FAAP; Only SOGHN Executive Committee members can participate). Please let me (harpavat@bcm.edu ) know if you are interested in joining the SOGHN and/or in serving on one of these committees.
