Description

Infection prevention and control (IPC) stops the spread of germs and reduces the risk of harm to health care teams, patients, and their families. This course supports busy pediatric team members by providing quick IPC fixes to maintain a safe environment. These activities identify simple and immediate actions to take when using contact precautions, cleaning/sanitizing/disinfecting, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), administering immunizations, and performing day-to-day responsibilities. 

​Objectives

Unit 1: Contact Precautions - Describe proper precautions for contact transmission.

Unit 2: Cleaning, Sanitizing, and Disinfecting - Identify best practices for cleaning and sanitizing pediatric practice rooms and materials.

Unit 3: Personal Protective Equipment - Summarize standard procedures for wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

Unit 4: Immunizations - Explain proper procedures for immunizations.

Unit 5: Common Mistakes - Identify at least 3 common infection prevention mistakes.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

PAs may claim a maximum of 0.50 Category 1 credits for completing this activity. NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society.

This program is accredited for 0.50 NAPNAP CE contact hours of which 0.00 contain pharmacology (Rx) content, (0.00 related to psychopharmacology) (0.00 related to controlled substances), per the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Continuing Education Guidelines. The AAP is designated as Agency #A17. Upon completion of the program, each participant desiring NAPNAP contact hours must send a completed certificate of attendance to ce@napnap.org. Payment of $15 for NAPNAP members and nonmembers is required via credit card for all NAPNAP contact hour requests. Keep this certificate for your records for six (6) years.
