It is important to help pediatricians, other physicians, and nonphysician clinicians to diagnose and provide high standards of care for individuals with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This involves providing education on the most recent Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Care Considerations. While sub-specialists typically handle the ongoing care of patients with rare conditions, the initial care provided to pediatric patients in the medical home helps establish an early diagnosis that can inform prognosis, service planning, and monitoring for associated developmental and medical conditions. This course highlights the specialty care and emerging therapies related to the care and management of DMD as well as the common issues affecting children with DMD and the significant role that pediatricians, other physicians, and nonphysician clinicians have in caring for patients with DMD.
