Department of Membership
The Department of Membership (DOM) provides a broad array of programs and services to the Academy membership. The Department's philosophy is steeped in member service and strives to serve the specific needs of members as they progress through the various stages of involvement at the AAP. The programs and services are based on regular evaluation of member needs and study of the changing demography of membership. The department also serves as a reference for interpretation and revision of the Academy's Constitution and Bylaws; handles status change requests, coordinates comprehensive benefit programs for members, and conducts member surveys to stay abreast of critical issues facing Academy members.

DOM oversees recruitment, credentialing, and retention of the Academy's 60,000 members including Fellows, Specialty Fellows, Candidate Members, Resident , Fellowship Tranees, Medical Students, Associate Members, and International members. It ensures membership benefits are fulfilled, conducts all aspects of national membership dues billing and collection for the Academy; also administers the Chapter and Section Dues Billing Program. Additional Benefits, including the affinity programs, are also associated with DOM. The department updates and maintains the national membership database and maintains all information contained in the Online Member Directory, while upholding the confidentiality of our members.

DOM organizes a periodically member needs assessment program and provides primary staffing support to the Sections on Med-Peds, Seniors, Uniformed Services, Osteopathic Pediatricians, Young Physicians, Residents and Fellowship Trainees. The department also provides primary staffing support to the Committee on Residency Scholarships and the Committee on Residency Research Grants. The department is responsible for creating the YPN Network, which is a collaborative resource for Medical Students, Residents, Fellowhip Trainees and Young Physicians.

For further information on any of the department's services or activities, please contact membership@aap.org or see Membership Web page.
