2007/2008 Resident Initiative Fund
The Resident Initiative Fund Program is now CLOSED. Please check back in February 2009.
For the past few years, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has endeavored on a strategic planning process with our many resident initiatives. Through that process, our resident members stated that they would appreciate a fund that would allow them to initiate projects/programs in their community to improve the health of children. The Academy agreed with their idea and Abbott Nutrition stepped forward to thankfully fund the program for us.
Therefore, this year we are offering twenty-five (25) grants of up to $1000 each. This funding will enable residents to educate fellow residents and/or parents on a specific aspect of one of the Academy’s national child health priorities (Special Health Care Needs – Foster Care, Oral Health, Disaster Preparedness, Mental Health, Obesity, and Immunizations). We felt that this will:
- Increase the number of new, creative and innovative opportunities for residents to apply their leadership and advocacy skills within the AAP structure.
- Increase residents’ knowledge of the Academy’s child health priorities.
- Increase resident collaboration with national AAP and its chapters.
