The Outstanding Service Award

Special recognition in rotation among the US Army, Navy and Air Force annually to a present or former Uniformed Services Pediatrician for outstanding life-time services to the military and pediatrics. Criteria for selection of the OSA are as follows: pediatraic leadership, contribution to Army, Navy or Air Force medicine, Contribution to Uniformed Services Section and/or Military Chapter of the AAP, a career of Scholarly Achievement.

The potential recipients are nominated and selected by the Executive Committee, in conjunction with the pediatric specialty advisors to the Surgeons General, in which a list a potential candiates is developed and narrowed down to a nominee that is approved by vote by the award subcommittee and the Section of Uniformed Services Executive Committee.
