2009 Outstanding Achievement Award in the Application
of Epidemiologic Information in Child Health Advocacy
Laurene Mascola, MD, FAAP
Laurene Mascola, MD, FAAP is the Chief of the Acute Communicable Disease Control Program for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health which performs disease surveillance and epidemic control activities for more than 80 diseases and syndromes. She attended St. Louis University Medical School, received a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles and was a CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer. She is the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) Infectious Diseases Committee Chair and on the National BioWatch Epidemiology Advisory Workgroup. She has extensive experience in epidemiology and disease prevention and published numerous articles and abstracts in medical and public health journals and some book chapters.
