New! HealthyChildren.org
In a sea of conflicting and confusing health information, parents have always turned to their family pediatrician as a trusted source of advice. Now, in a virtual extension of the pediatricians office, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is bringing pediatrician-approved health information to the Internet with today's launch of HealthyChildren.org.
The only Web site backed by 60,000 pediatricians, HealthyChildren.org offers trustworthy, up-to-the-minute health advice and guidance for parents and caregivers, along with interactive tools and personalized content.
What is an Integrative Pediatrician?
"Integrative Medicine is the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing."
Developed and Adopted by the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, May 2004; Edited May 2005
Integrative pediatricians subscribe the above philosophy in providing comprehensive, holistic care to children and families. We believe that the bond and communication between pediatrician, child and family is crucial. Furthermore, the interaction of each child with his or her environment is key.
Click here to access a list of AAP SOCIM members who have identified themselves as integrative pediatricians. In the field, Medical Specialty/Special Interest, please select "Section on Complementary and Integrative Medicine (SOCIM)." We actively support the concept of integrative pediatric care, we do not in any way evaluate or endorse the care delivered by the practitioners voluntarily listed here.
