Physician Education

The Section on Allergy and Immunology offers many resources for pediatricians, pediatric specialists, and other health care professionals. If you are looking for an expert to speak at an educational session, refer to the online Speakers Bureau. Additional resources such as slide presentations are offered to section members through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Member Center.


The Section on Allergy and Immunology Member Center includes access to the Speakers Bureau, electronic mailing list, slide presentations, and information on pediatric issues in allergy and clinical immunology.

2009-2010 Visiting Professor Program - Apply Anytime!
NEW! The Section is pleased to accept applications for its Visiting Professor Program (VPP) for the 2009-2010 academic year. The VPP provides grants for Pediatric Allergists/Immunologists to visit institutions with accredited Pediatrics residency training programs for one to two days. The Visiting Professor provides lectures, discusses clinical problems, and assists in introducing procedures that may enhance the allergy/immunology training of pediatric house and attending staffs. The grants provide the Visiting Professor with an honorarium and reimbursement for travel, lodging, and meal expenses.

To apply for a Visiting Professor, please print and complete the VPP Application and submit it to Debra Burrowes, dburrowes@aap.org, fax 847/434-8000.

Pediatrics Supplement on the Best Articles Relevant to Pediatric Allergy and Immunology
This annual supplement to the AAP journal, Pediatrics, incorporates reviews of current articles in the field of allergy and immunology into a summary of abstracts (with comments by section reviewers) of the articles felt to be most important for the general pediatrician. In short, this publication helps practicing physicians stay up-to-date in the area of pediatric allergy/immunology without requiring a lot of their time. School Nurse Allergy Tool Kit
The AAP and the AAAAI partnered to develop a speakers kit for school nurses and parents on asthma, allergic rhinitis, asthma, and food allergy. The kit includes slides with speakers' notes, an educational section with a glossary and resource list, and handouts for parents and school personnel in English and Spanish.
