FUTURE OF PEDIATRIC EDUCATION II (FOPE II)
A Project of the Pediatric Community
The FUTURE OF PEDIATRIC EDUCATION II (FOPE II) Project has completed and published the final Report of the FOPE II Task Force, “Organizing Pediatric Education to Meet the Needs of Infants, Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults in the 21st Century.” This document, published as a supplement to Pediatrics in January 2000, can be accessed through this FOPE II Web page. The FOPE II Task Force hopes that their Report will continue to foster the types of open discussions that took place during the development of the Report. The continued sharing of ideas about the Report, its recommendations and, of particular importance, potential implementation strategies will be vital to ensure the lifelong learning of all pediatricians and child health professionals who provide pediatric health care services.
To facilitate this ongoing dialogue, a PowerPoint presentation about the Task Force Report and its recommendations has been developed. This presentation looks at some of the key findings in the Report, such as:
- demographic changes
- biomedical/technological advances
- new pediatric health care delivery models
- pediatric workforce
- the expanding child health care team
- issues and trends in subspecialization
- changes in financing medical education
We hope you will find this useful. If you use this presentation, please send an e-mail message to: futpededII@aap.org to provide any feedback.
Thank you.
