In 1989, the American Academy of Pediatrics, as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) educational and philanthropic organization, established its Friends of Children Fund, the Academy’s Annual Fund. Contributions to the Friends of Children Fund enable the AAP to support high priority activities, respond to emerging child health issues and continually generate new knowledge about the best way to care for children. Through the generosity of members and friends including corporations and foundations, the AAP remains a strong voice for children.

Build a Relationship

Corporate members have access to leaders in pediatrics and can play a role in developing and refining programs that support the Academy’s mission to ensure the health and well being of children. Member activities enable you to develop and strengthen relationships with Academy leadership and network with AAP representatives.

Support Priority Projects

Since its inception, the Friends of Children Fund has enabled the AAP to aggressively respond to emerging child health issues. The Fund has provided more than $3 million in grants to support AAP activities that increase access to children’s health services, educate families about issues affecting children, provide research grants, and support the advancement of pediatrics.

Programs supported include:
  • Community Child Health Programs
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program
  • Resident Research Grants
  • Medical Student Outreach
  • Violence Prevention
  • Disaster Relief

Benefit from Involvement

The AAP recognizes the importance of your organization’s support of the Friends of Children Fund. Development staff are available to assist you and to help foster productive relationships between your organization and the AAP. They will provide you with guidance in identifying pediatric professional trends and early awareness of child health issues and activities that may be of interest to you. With an annual contribution, your organization will become a corporate member of the Friends of Children Fund, increasing your visibility to the more than 57,000 AAP members.
