Healthy Tomorrows Partnership for Children Program

HTPCP is a cooperative agreement program of the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau and the American Academy of Pediatrics. For a description of the program, visit Program Overview.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1) HEALTHY TOMORROWS 20th ANNIVERSARY RECOGNIZED IN AAP NEWS!

The June 2009 edition of the AAP News highlights the 20th anniversary of the Healthy Tomorrows Partnership for Children Program. The article includes interviews with the associate administrator for the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Dr Peter van Dyck, along with three Healthy Tomorrows grantees: Dr Gary Smith, Dr David Keller, and Dr Khudsiya Khan. 2) 2009 UCLA/JOHNSON &JOHNSON HEALTH CARE EXECUTIVE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
The Office of Performance Review at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is pleased to announce that two Healthy Tomorrows grantees from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) have been selected to participate in the 2009 UCLA/Johnson & Johnson Health Care Executive Program (UCLA/J&J HCEP). Only seven grantees across MCHB were selected for the program, so this is indeed an honor! Congratulations to Healthy Tomorrows programs Asian Media Access of Minneapolis, MN and CHIP of Roanoke Valley of Roanoke, VA on achieving this worthy recognition. 3) 2009 MEDICAL HOME IMPLEMENTATION CME SERIES FINAL EVENT -

4) HEALTHY TOMORROWS AND ARRA INCREASED DEMAND OF SERVICE GRANTS - The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Increased Demand for Services (IDS) grants were awarded to 1,128 health centers and they will receive a share of $337 million. Congratulations to the three Healthy Tomorrows projects that benefited from these funds, the San Ysidro Health Center in San Diego, CA; The Children’s Clinic in Long Beach, CA; and the Vista Community Clinic in Vista, CA. 5) 2010 GRANT CYCLE UPDATE - At this time we do not anticipate a Healthy Tomorrow grant competition to be announced in summer or fall of 2009. Please check back for updates. 6) EVALUATING YOUR COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAM PART II: PUTTING YOUR EVALUATION PLAN TO WORK - This follow up publication to Part I: Designing Your Evaluation takes the evaluation plan you developed for your community-based health initiative from the planning to the implementation stage. The guide goes through steps in a workbook format to help you decide how to measure progress on your objectives and collect, analyze, and present the resulting data meaningfully and efficiently. 7) CATCH PROGRAM ISSUE BRIEFS - The CATCH Program, through funding from Hasbro, developed 3 issue briefs to provide additional support and guidance to community-based health program applicants and grantees. The 3 issues briefs are: Implementing CATCH Programs: Strategies for Addressing Common Challenges, Forming and Maintaining Effective CATCH Partnerships: Lessons from the Field, and Bringing Community Pediatrics to Life. To download the issue briefs, click here.
