Vote like the future of children’s health depends on it

The national midterm elections will take place on Tuesday, November 3.   

Elected leaders at all levels of government shape policies that impact the health of children, families and our communities.  

The American Academy of Pediatrics is leading a nonpartisan Get Out the Vote campaign, Vote Kids, focused on the connection between voting and health, the importance of making a voting plan and the role of pediatricians in civic engagement.  

Quick Tips: Engage in the Civic Process & Spread the Vote Kids Message

No matter the amount of time you have, here are some ways you can get involved in the civic engagement process and spread the Vote Kids message. 

In 15 – 30 minutes:  

In 1 hour or more:  

  • Attend a candidate townhall or forum. This information can often be found on a candidate’s official campaign website.
  • Research the candidates, initiatives/proposals, and issues that will be on the ballot
  • Volunteer at your community’s polling location. 
  • Work with your institution/organization to officially partner with Vot-ER as a participating site
  • Write an op-ed on a child health issue you’re passionate about and why you are voting with that issue in mind this election
